Seiko Epson Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Epson", "we", "our", or "us") believes that it is an important social responsibility to appropriately protect user-related information ("personal information"), including that of application software developers (hereinafter referred to as "users"), obtained when users request or make inquiries about a Product Plan ID (PPID) for an MFi printer through the MFi Certified Printer Support Application Software Request Form (the "Site"). We are committed to handling personal information appropriately based on our Privacy Policy. As part of this effort, we are providing the following privacy statement ("Privacy Statement"), which describes how we handle personal information, including matters to be made public, in accordance with the "Act on the Protection of Personal Information".

1. Acquisition and Content of Personal Information
We acquire personal information from users in the ways described below.
1-1. Acquisition of information with MFi request or inquiry
We manage personal information such as name, email address, telephone number, company name, country, and request/inquiry details that you provide to us when you make a request or inquire about MFi through the Site.
1-2. Acquisition of information when user accesses the Service
When a user accesses the Service managed by Epson, we may acquire information on the user's behavior, such as page browsing history and content usage history, and use it to improve convenience and safety. This information includes website usage history and session cookies.
One of the cookies is Google Analytics by Google Inc., which we use to collect and analyze usage history and other information. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to record information about your visit.
The Google Analytics privacy policy is available at Google Privacy Policy.
You may refuse to accept "cookies" at your discretion, but by doing so, you may not be able to use some of the website's features or part of the Service.
*We do not use Do-Not-Track signals.
2. Purposes of Use of Personal Information
We will use personal information within the scope of the purposes of use notified to the user when the information was acquired or for the purposes listed below (hereinafter collectively referred to as the "purposes of use"). Except in the cases described in "3. Provision of Information to Third Parties" or in cases where the user has given prior consent, personal information will only be used for the purposes of use, namely:
- For MFi requests
- To respond to inquiries
- To provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Site
- To respond to complaints and other matters related to personal information regarding the Service
- To understand market demands and trends based on the purpose and functions of the application
We may, however, use personal information outside the scope of the purposes of use in the following cases:
- When required by law
- When it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
- When it is especially necessary for the improvement of public health or healthy development of children and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
- When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, local government, or individual or entity entrusted by a national agency or local government in order to execute affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the person is likely to impede the execution of such affairs
3. Provision of Information to Third Parties
We will not provide personal information to third parties unless we have obtained the user's consent. We may, however, provide personal information to third parties for the uses described below.
3-1. Joint use
To the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use, we may disclose or provide acquired personal information and inquiry content to Seiko Epson Group companies through paper or electronic media.

3-2. Outsourcing to third parties
We may outsource all or part of the handling of personal information to third parties (hereinafter referred to as "outsourcees") to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use.
When outsourcing, we entrust personal information under our strict control and to the minimum extent necessary to perform the work, and we supervise the outsourcee as necessary and appropriate.
3-3. Use of information provided outside the company
We may provide statistical information that does not identify individuals to third parties.
3-4. Transfer of business
As a company, we may take over business operations due to merger or other reason. In such cases, personal information will be handled after the succession to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use that applied prior to the succession.
3-5. When required by laws and regulations
We may provide personal information to third parties in the following cases:
- When required by law
- When it is necessary for the protection of a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
- When it is especially necessary for the improvement of public health or healthy development of children and it is difficult to obtain the person's consent
- When it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, local government, or individual or entity entrusted by a national agency or local government in order to execute affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the person is likely to impede the execution of such affairs
4. Safe Management of Personal Information
For the handling of personal information, we have established a basic policy and implement appropriate organizational, personnel, physical, and technical safety management measures.
4-1. Establishment of basic policy
- Epson has established a privacy policy to ensure the proper handling of personal data. For more information, see the "Privacy Policy".
- Epson has established rules and standards regarding handling methods, persons responsible and persons in charge, and their duties at each stage, including personal data acquisition, use, storage, provision, and deletion/disposal.
4-2. Organizational safety management measures
- In addition to appointing a person responsible for handling personal data, Epson clarifies the employees who will handle personal data and the scope of personal data handled by such employees, and establishes a system for reporting to the person responsible in the event that a law or handling-related regulation has in fact been violated or appears to have been violated.
- Epson conducts periodic self-inspections regarding the status of personal data handling.
4-3. Personnel safety management measures
- Epson provides its employees with regular training on the points to remember when handling personal data.
- Epson's rules of employment include provisions regarding the confidentiality of personal data.
4-4. Physical safety management measures
- Epson has established internal rules for areas where personal data is handled and means for handling data safely, and has implemented measures to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing personal data.
- Epson takes steps to prevent theft or loss of equipment, electronic media, and documents that handle personal data, and implements measures to ensure that personal data is not easily revealed when such equipment, electronic media, and such are transported or carried about.
4-5. Technical safety management measures
- Epson implements access control to limit the number of persons involved and scope of personal information databases that are handled.
- Epson has introduced a system to protect information systems that handle personal data from unauthorized external access and unauthorized software.
With the exception of access logs and account information of the party to which information will be disclosed or provided (items necessary for Epson's security management), personal information received from the user will be processed, stored, and properly disposed in Japan when the provision of the Service to the user is no longer necessary, such as when the user terminates their use of the Service. We do not use personal information for analysis and assessment.
5. Retention Period of Personal Information
Epson retains personal information for two months after having responded to a user's request, and disposes of it appropriately upon completion.

7. Disclosure, Correction, Suspension of Use, and Deletion of Personal Information
If you wish to request disclosure of the content or purpose of use of your personal information or correction of your personal information, please contact the person who accepted your request for the Service or the "Personal Information Consultation Desk" described in section 5 above. After confirming your identity, we will disclose your personal information as soon as reasonably possible.
8. Compliance with Laws and Regulations and Revision of Privacy Statement
Epson manages and uses personal information in accordance with the laws and regulations of Japan. We may revise this Privacy Statement to conform to changes in the laws and regulations of Japan, ensure better protection of personal information, or for other reasons. We will inform you of updates.
