Introduction
"teamLab Borderless" is a fantastical space where artworks seamlessly interact without boundaries, created by the art collective teamLab. The extraordinary immersive experience has captured global attention and in 2019, "MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless" took the Guinness World Record for the world's most visited museum dedicated to a single group or artist. This borderless experience has been spreading worldwide, including cities like Shanghai, Hamburg, and Jeddah.
At "MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless" in Tokyo's Azabudai Hills, approximately 560 Epson high-brightness projectors have been installed to deliver rich color and high-quality images. These projectors support the creation of borderless and fantastical visual world, delivering new experience of sensations for visitors.
Decision Factor:
Image Quality
Meticulous attention was paid to details such as resolution, contrast, and subtle color expression in the space featuring the work of teamLab Borderless. Epson's proprietary 4K enhancement technology enables high-resolution and high-contrast images, resulting in amazing quality and detail.
Contrast
teamLab's exhibits place just as much importance on accurately representing the color black as they do on vivid color expression.
Epson projectors have high contrast ratios, allowing them to vividly reproduce colors while also accurately rendering deep blacks. This capability makes it possible to beautifully recreate expressions similar to traditional ink wash paintings.
Zero-offset Lens
The museum has some narrow, low-ceilinged corridors. These spaces are not naturally suited to projection, but images had to be projected in these corridors to realize the teamLab Borderless concept in which the artwork moves from room to room. Epson's ultra-short throw zero offset lenses made it possible to project images over the surface of entire walls.
Reliable Support System
An important part of any permanent exhibit is the stable operation of the management tools. Stress-free online use and the ability to control multiple units at once are also important. With the support of such technology, the museum is able to operate nearly 365 days a year without a break.
