Smales Farm

Introduction of the Case

Smales Farm is a vibrant mixed-use destination on Auckland's North Shore, featuring modern offices, retail, and community spaces. With Epson projectors, the venue has transformed its entrance into an immersive, nature-inspired experience, creating a dynamic and memorable first impression for visitors.

Decision Factor

The goal of this installation was to create an immersive nature experience, so it was important that the technology stayed out of sight and allowed the content to take center stage. Using Epson projectors equipped with ultra short throw lenses, the team was able to achieve this while keeping the projectors hidden from view.

They also wanted to project onto a unique surface made from recycled cladding. One of the key factors in choosing Epson was its ability to deliver bright, vibrant images on this challenging surface, helping bring the content to life.

Installation

The installation features four EB-PU2213B projectors with ELPLX02WS lenses. Mounted discreetly in the ceiling, the projectors create a seamless edge-blended image while remaining largely hidden from view.

In the lobby, three EB-1480Fi projectors are edge-blended to create a large, immersive display. Their ultra short throw design allows them to be installed close to the wall, minimizing their visual impact on the space.

Content is projected onto recycled cladding that originally came from the building's exterior. Repurposing this material as a projection surface adds a unique and sustainable design element. Epson projectors were selected for their ability to produce bright, vibrant images on this challenging surface.
