Introduction of the Case
"Planet Ocean" at the Gasometer Oberhausen is far more than an exhibition—it's an emotional voyage into the depths of the sea. Set within Europe's tallest exhibition hall, this immersive experience combines art, science, and cutting-edge technology to reveal the beauty and fragility of our oceans.
At the heart of the exhibition is The Wave, a monumental installation projected across towering vertical and translucent horizontal screens. It brings the underwater world to life with stunning photorealistic animation. Seven high-lumen Epson projectors cast vivid ocean imagery, creating parallax and holographic effects that shift with the viewer's movement—making each perspective unique.
Thanks to Epson's advanced projection technology, visitors are not just spectators but participants, immersed in an experience that evokes wonder and a deep emotional connection to the marine world.
Decision Factor
Epson projectors were selected for their ability to produce accurate color reproduction, enabling animation designers to see the same images on their monitors and on the ultra-large projected display.
Projection was chosen for its ability to provide a high level of immersion for visitors.
The Epson EB-L30000U projectors were selected for their reliability and ease of maintenance.
Installation
Seven EB-L30000U 30,000-lumen projectors are stacked vertically and seamlessly blended across the incredible 40-meter-high screen, including the use of gauze material to create a "ghost" effect.
The experience is enhanced with sensors that track visitors' positions, allowing them to control the content and enjoy an even more immersive and personalized experience.
The exhibition runs daily for nine hours.
