Introduction of the Case
At Frieze Seoul 2023, BMW presented a unique art experience to visitors with 'The Electric AI Canvas', which connects art and technology by bringing art into a new dimension.
'The Electric AI Canvas' was inspired by the new electric car BMW i5 and was a unique combination of art and technology that uses AI in a responsible manner to create an immersive on-site art experience using Epson 3LCD projection solutions.
Decision Factor
First of all, the reliability of the product that could stably carry out the projection exhibition was important.
The Electric AI Canvas exhibition mapped 9 Epson 20klm projectors onto the beautifully curved surface of the BMW i5 and projected images created by AI based on the artists' work.
Beyond visual artistry, For 'the Electric AI Canvas', it was important to express well the abstract evolving animation based on the various artistic styles created by Nvidia's trained AI architecture, StyleGAN, the client was satisfied with the excellent color reproduction and color expression based on Epson's 3LCD technology.
And EB-PU2220B was optimal even in a narrow booth installation environment. The client liked its small and light, and its wide lens lineup makes installation very easy.
Installation
The BMW Project (The Electric AI Canvas) car mapping event installed 9 units of Epson EB-PU2220B and various lenses on the ceiling for projection mapping and immersive exhibitions.
The main reason why they chose Epson projectors is the flexibility such as the exchangeable lenses and compact size for installation at any direction.
