Epson has announced that Group Company Epson Singapore Pte Ltd., is partnering with the Football Association of Singapore and the Matsumoto Yamaga Football Club of Japan's J-League on an international youth football exchange program.
Under this exchange program, which will run from June 22 - 28, 2015, three under 14 youngsters recommended by the Football Association of Singapore will fly to Japan, where they will train at the Matsumoto Yamaga FC Youth Academy and see the sights of Nagano prefecture. The program aims to promote goodwill and friendship between Japan and Singapore, as well as to promote sports and the healthy development of young people with an international outlook.
The three boys from the Singapore National Football Academy were selected to participate in the program by Coach Robbie Servais based on their technical skills, discipline, and attitude.
The boys will train and live with the Japanese club team, staying in the Matsumoto Yamaga FC dormitory and eating meals coordinated by a certified nutritionist. They are also scheduled to observe a practice session of Yamaga's first team, tour the Seiko Epson Head Office and, on the final day of their stay, take in a J-League match at Yamaga's Alwin Stadium.
The exchange program, which will be a first for the Matsumoto Yamaga Football Club, came to fruition in large part because Epson Singapore, Epson's local affiliate in Singapore, has a sponsorship agreement with the Football Association of Singapore, while parent company Seiko Epson has a sponsorship agreement with Matsumoto Yamaga FC.
Tan May Lin, manager of Epson Singapore's Sales and Marketing Department, says, "Epson is happy to play its part in providing the best resources possible to groom Singapore's future football stars. Through watching and training with one of Asia's best professional teams, we hope that our youths will be motivated to pick up tactical tips and aspire towards being the best in the field. Beyond skills, we hope they will also bring home the essence of being a good sportsman, as they see values such as respect, discipline and the importance of teamwork come to life through the players."
Epson is using the world's most popular sport to increase its name recognition and grow its business by capturing more customers in the main markets of Asia.
