---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Epson Announces New Liquid Crystal Panels for 3LCD Business Projectors
– TOKYO, Japan, October 19, 2004 –
Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") today announced that it has succeeded in developing a new series of D4-technology, high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panels for 3LCD business front-projectors.
Samples of the new small-sized (1.0-inch), high-resolution SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 dots) panels began shipping in October 2004.
The market for business projectors continues to expand. Growth is being driven by increased demand for business presentations and, more recently, the computerization of the classroom. Accompanying this growth is a heightened desire for products that offer ever better picture quality at a more attractive performance-to-cost ratio.
In response to demands for even higher picture quality and performance-to-cost ratio, Epson recently bolstered its HTPS lineup with a new series of D4 technology panels. The panels in the L3P10Y series offer the highest definition of any 1-inch SXGA+ panel for front-type projectors*.
Panels in the D4 series boast technology for achieving a high aperture-ratio, which makes the panels brighter than their predecessors, and improved response speed, which produces smoother, higher-quality images and moving pictures. The D4 technology used in the new L3P10Y panel series enables projector designers to realize business projectors that offer high definition and outstanding picture quality at a high performance-to-cost ratio.
