---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Epson Launches Livingstation LCD Projection TVs in Japan

– TOKYO, Japan, May 31, 2004 –
Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson") today announced that it will rollout sales of its Livingstation HDTV LCD projection TVs for family entertainment to Japan. Japanese customers will be able to select from the 47-inch and 57-inch models that were first launched earlier in the year in the United States.
The Japanese television market is seeing demand for high-resolution big-screen TVs climb sharply, spurred by the rapid spread of digital and Hi-Vision broadcasts, DVDs, and other digital visual entertainment. The conditions for growth in the Japanese market are ripe: terrestrial digital broadcasts began in December 2003; high-quality, high-definition visual content has made significant inroads; and television stations offerring expanded coverage of baseball, soccer and other sports.
With revolutionary advances in broadcasting and telecommunications, Epson has committed itself to "digital image innovation," as set forth in "SE07," its mid-range business plan. The company is positioning itself to provide imaging solutions where imaging domains merge. The Livingstation brand of compelling large-screen TVs were developed as part of the SE07 business strategy, and their launch in the Japanese market is a reflection of the changes sweeping across the business and technology landscape.
