The WorldSkills Competition, held once every two years, is designed to promote the development, advancement, and recognition of vocational skills in member countries and regions through international competition. It also serves to promote international exchange and friendship among young people engaged in skilled vocations. Epson's Hayato Miyasaka and Azusa Sano represented Japan at the competition after winning the gold medal at the 54th National Skills Competition held in Yamagata, Japan, in October 2016. This year marked the 8th time that Epson has sent a representative to the competition, and the first time since WorldSkills Calgary 2009 (the 40th WorldSkills Competition).

As a manufacturing company, Epson has participated in the National Skills Competition since 1971. Participation in competitions is part of Epson's strategy for preserving essential skills by ensuring that they are handed down from generation to generation. Our young people in the skilled vocations strive to learn and master skills through rigorous training and practice in order to participate in competitions.
Epson aims to be an indispensable company by preserving critical vocational skills and providing products and services that delight our customers.
