Epson Atmix Begins Construction of New Plant
- Plant will triple manufacturing capacity for superfine alloy powder -

- TOKYO, Japan, June 13, 2012 -
Seiko Epson Corporation ("Epson," TSE: 6724) today announced that Group company Epson Atmix Corporation had begun construction of its new Kita-Inter Plant. Epson Atmix, which is located in Hachinohe-shi, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, is the world's leading manufacturer of superfine alloy powder*.
Epson Atmix will invest 3.2 billion yen to triple its current production capacity to 10,000 tons of superfine alloy powder. The company plans to use the new plant to manufacture the powder used to create components for sophisticated mobile devices such as smartphones, automobiles and medical instruments.
The new plant is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2013.
