Epson and Manchester United Fulfill the Soccer Dreams of Youths in Malaysia and Singapore

Leveraging Epson's sponsorship of Manchester United Football Club, the Epson United Spirit Soccer Clinic was organized by Epson as part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the region. The clinic also coincided with the Manchester United Legends and DHL Champ19ns Trophy tour that made its mark in Malaysia and Singapore in April 2012.

The events realized the dreams of 32 specially selected teens from key beneficiaries in each country who experienced a soccer coaching session from two legendary players from the 19-time English champions Manchester United, as well as the club's Manchester United Soccer School (MUSS) coaches.

The Manchester United legends were Gary Pallister and Ronny Johnsen in Malaysia, and Denis Irwin and Paul Parker in Singapore.

The participants underwent an intensive skills coaching session with the MUSS coaches and the legends, learning a range of movements and techniques inspired by the regime used by the Manchester United first team players. The session was designed to encourage repetition of these fundamental actions in a fun and exciting way.

"I'm very happy with this experience; I'm going to tell all my school friends and show them what I have learnt playing football with the coaches from Manchester United!" said James, aged 8, a participant of the soccer clinic who has stated Manchester United winger Nani as his favorite player.

"Our boys rarely have opportunities such as this during the weekends so it is understandable that they are absolutely ecstatic! Thank you for giving them a memorable experience with the MUSS coaches at the Epson United Spirit Soccer Clinic" said Mr. Kong, a representative of the City Revival Boys Home.

"Through partnerships such as the one we have with Epson, Manchester United hopes to foster values such as self-confidence tempered with teamwork and positive thinking in the youth of Singapore," says Denis Irwin. "Even though the time we had with the youths from the Singapore Children's Society was relatively short, we believe we've made a great impression and achieved our goals with them; and it shows in their overwhelming enthusiasm. We are deeply honoured to have fans like them."
