– TOKYO, Japan June 12, 2008 –
On June 5, Epson Korea Limited ("EKL") received an award of excellence (Standby Power 1W Best Partner) for reducing standby power consumption in the inkjet-based SPC category (multi-function printer) from Consumers Korea, an NGO with great authority in the area of standby power. Since it's inauguration in 2006, this award has recognized companies which have made great advances in developing technology to reduce standby power consumption. Consumers Korea judged the candidates based on standby power consumption, technical development for reducing the standby power consumption, their registration rate in the E-Standby program, and the total amount of units manufactured. EKL excelled in the technical development criteria for its focus on using LED as the light source in the scanner part of the SPC instead of cold-cathode fluorescent lamps.
