Craftsmanship Bringing Technology to Life

With its origins in watchmaking, Epson believes in creating the products that it designs. It is proud to be a "monozukuri" company dedicated to the art and science of manufacturing.

Epson believes that new technologies are created and refined in the process of manufacturing products, and are then used when the next generation of products is created. By repeating this process, the company passes on the spirit of creativity and challenge to generate continuous improvements in its product lineup. Epson is taking practical steps to ensure that these traditions of monozukuri and continuous improvement are maintained.

In 2002, Epson established a monozukuri school at its Head Office. Skillfully guided by senior craftsmen and women, young engineers hone their skills through daily practice, with the emphasis on using the five senses and human judgment rather than simply following a manual.
